Las retiradas de patrocinadores está golpeando al ciclismo con fuerza: Leopard, Euskaltel, Geox, etc.

 

Con respecto a este último, el equipo del siempre honesto Matxín pasa por momentos delicados por perder el apoyo del fabricante de zapatos. Geox no ha depositado a tiempo los avales bancarios en la U.C.I, lo que ha puesto en serio peligro al equipo.

 

A pesar de eso, Cobo ganó a Sagan y a Petacchi en el Criterium Ciudad de Alcobendas en una demostración de aislamiento de la situación y de un coraje sin límite.

 

Joseán Matxín y Mauro Gianetti son amigos de SPORT LAB y pilar básico en el ciclismo de renovación que se está viviendo.

 

Deseamos de corazón que se encuentre una solución a esto con un nuevo patrocinador o un replanteamiento de la posición por parte del fabricante de zapatos que parece tener agujeros en muchos sitios, aparte de en las suelas.

In spite of this, Cobo won the Criterium Ciudad de Alcobendas in a demonstration of isolation from the situation and endless courage.

Mi admirado Samu Sánchez podría unirse al equipo Saxo Bank por la retirada de Euskaltel como patrocinador del equipo.

 

Se me vienen dos ideas a la cabeza, pero no al mismo tiempo, claro: El dúo Samu y Contador podría deparar historias de ciclismo épicas, aunque podrían no tener siempre un final feliz. La otra es la desaparición de uno de los equipos más grandes que han existido, lo que lamentaría terriblemente.

 

Si tuviera que renunciar al movimiento de Samu para salvar el Euskaltel, lo haría gustoso.

 

 

My admired Samu Sánchez might join Saxo Bank Team due to the pull of Euskaltel as sponsorship of the basque squad.

 

Two ideas come to my mind, but not at once, of course: Samu & Contador duo might bring epic cycling histories to cycling, not always with a happy ending, though. The other one is the retreat of one of the greatest teams ever. what I would deeply regret.

 

If I had to renounce to Samu´s movement to save the Euskaltel, I would not hesitate.

 

Aunque ya se sabía el recorrido del Tour 2012 por la filtración habida, ahora se ha presentado oficialmente, lo que quiere decir que la diferencia es que los italianos asisten al evento decorados como árboles de Navidad.

 

Quizá el hecho diferencial sean los 100 kilómetros de contrarreloj, pero habrá llegadas en pendiente, media montaña, los macizos del Vosgos y Jura, adoquines, etc. Todo nos ofrecerá el más grandioso espectáculo del mundo ciclista en un Tour muy abierto por dar alas a los que suben, a los que ruedan, a los que resisten, etc.

 

En breve se harán público una serie de listados en los que aparecerán:

 

– Los corredores que sienten que no les beneficia a ellos.

 

– Los rivales que cada corredor considera como favoritos.

 

– Los rivales que cada corredor considera que pueden dar la sorpresa.

 

– Los corredores que son aún demasiado jóvenes.

 

– Los corredores que ya son demasiado viejos.

 

– Las etapas más peligrosas.

 

– Los porcentajes de las pendientes.

 

– Los sitios en los que habrá viento.

 

– Los corredores que se han dopado en el pasado.

– Los corredores que cometen la estupidez de doparse sabiendo que los van a pillar.

 

– Un listado con todos los listados mencionados.

Me ilusiona pensar que cada Tour se presenta como el “mejor de los últimos tiempos”.

Even though we already knew the 2012 Tour route as it had been previously leaked, now it has been officially presented, what means that the main difference is that Italians attended the event decorated as Xstmas trees.

 

Perhaps, the distinguishing fact are the 60 miles against the clock, but there will be uphill finishes, medium mountains, Vosgos and Jura massifs, cobblestones, etc. All of it will offer us the greatest in the cycling world in a really opened Tour as it give wings to the ones that climb, the ones that run, the ones that resist, etc. 

 

In short, they will publish an array of ranks in which they will list:

 

– Racers that feel that it does not benefit them.

. Each racer´s rivals to be considered as favorites.

– Each rider´s rivals that could give a surprise.

– Too young riders.

– Too old riders.

– Most dangerous stages.

– Inclination percentages.

– Windy places.

– Riders who doped in the past.

– Riders that could dope in the Tour (U.C.I.´s courtesy)

– Riders stupid enough to dope knowing they will be caught.

– A list with all the aforementioned lists.

 

Bets are opened: winner, podium and Andy Schleck´s mechanical mistake.

 

It makes me happy thinking that each Tour is “the best in the last times”.

 

By the way, you can ride from now on the Tour 2012 stages with any of the six offical tour operators.

Este verano he cambiado la bicicleta de mi hijo. De 20″ hemos pasado a 24″. Antes de llevar a cabo el correspondiente estudio biomecánico de nivel I (en SPORT LAB), Pablo me dijo que las bielas eran muy largas. Concretamente 20 milímetros de más.

Las bicis de los niños, incluso las buenas, se ven sometidas a un estricto límite de precio de venta por razones obvias: lo que les duran al ritmo que crecen. Por eso, la KTM Wild Thing 24” de mi hijo tenía unas bielas de 150 milímetros que había que cortar a 130.

 

Tras bucear en los más sórdidos sitios de Internet, en España no había nadie que lo hiciera. En un foro de torneros (que los hay) encontré a Santiago. Ni corto ni perezoso, Santiago compró en Inglaterra los machos precisos para hacer las roscas para los pedales. Una vez acortadas las bielas, rehízo las roscas para los pedales y todo con un excelente resultado, y eso que son el primer “prototipo”.

 

Acortar bielas, casquillos, adaptar piezas, manillares, acoples, caprichos, etc. Son muchas las opciones. Os iremos informando acerca de las posibilidades de este profesional.

 

Last summer I swapped my son´s bike. From 20″ we have jumped to 24″. Before carrying out the corresponding level I biomechanical study (at SPORT LAB), Pablo told me that cranks were too long. To be more precise, 20 millimeters.

 

Kids´ bikes, even good ones, are to comply with strict MSRP limits due to obvious reasons: lasting according to their growth. That is why my son´s KTM Wild Thing 24″ featured a 150 millimeters cranks to be shortened to 130 millimeters.

 

After diving into the most sordid Internet sites, there was nobody in Spain that could do it. In a lathe operator´s forum (yes, there are) I met Santiago. As bold as brass, Santiago purchased in the UK the required lathe pins to make the threads for the pedals. Once he had shortened the cranks, he made the new threads for the pedals and all of it with an excellent result, yet that they are the first “prototype”.

 

Cranks shortening, housings, fit parts, handlebars, bar ends, caprices, etc. Lots of options. We will update all the information concerning this professional´s possibilities.

We cannot but thank Tamalpais, Spanish distributor of PowerTap. In our last week sessions in Madrid, we lost the computer in which you can read all the data generated by our PowerTap Elite+ , that all of you who have visited SPORT LAB have used in your tests.

 

Right in the next morning, the always kind and effective Pablo Sáez at Tamalpais, had found a new unit with which we were able to keep on carrying out our work. And that even being 500 kilometers far from our headquarters.

Uno de nuestros clientes trajo una bicicleta equipada con el cambio Shimano eléctrico. Impresionante desde cualquier punto de vista. Creo que es el camino a seguir.

 

Al abrigo de todo esto, he visto por ahí un sistema de frenos inalámbrico. Es decir, no hay conexión física entre el sistema de accionamiento del freno y el freno en sí. Además, el invento trabaja al hacer presión en el puño de freno. O sea, aprietas el puño y la bici se para.

 

Hago mías las palabras de mi amigo Al Brody y creo que esto es un magnífico invento que no necesitamos. Dejaré la puerta abierta al error que genera mi ignorancia Así podré desdecirme si triunfa.

 

 

 

One of our customers brought a electric Shimano equipped bike. Stunning from any point of view. I think that this is the way to go.

 

Wrapped by all of this, I have seen over there a wireless brake system. That is, no physical connection between the brake actuator and the brake itself. Moreover, the drive system works when clenching the grip. In other words, you clench the grip and the bike stops.

 

Using my friend Al Brody´s words, I will state that this is a superb invention that we do not need. I will let the door opened to the error my ignorance generates. Thus, I will be able to come up if it successes.

 

El Giro es la más bella carrera ciclista del Mundo. El Tour es grandioso, la Vuelta mejor cada día y las carreras americanas amenazan. Si, pero no hay ninguna que recorra los escenarios ni que haga vibrar al espectador como el Giro.

 

Arropados por los récords de audiencia del 2011, se ha presentado la edición 2012 que saldrá de Dinamarca, y que ascenderá el Mortirolo y el Stelvio en su etapa reina y que tendrá un final en la deliciosa Cortina D´Ampezzo. Al acto acudieron muchos protagonistas, pasados y futuros, lo que incluyó a mi admirado Contador que, por una vez, vistió correctamente para la ocasión.

 

¡No puedo esperar!

 

The Giro is the most beautiful race in the world. The Tour is impressive, the Vuelta is better and better and American races threatens. Yes, but there is no one that neither runs the sceneries nor makes the audience vibrate like the Giro.

 

Wrapped up by 2011 audience records, the starting in Denmark 2012 edition was unveiled to know that they will climb the Mortirolo and Stelvio in its queen stage and that they wil have an end at the delicious Cortina D´Ampezzo. The event was attended by many protagonist, past and future, what included my admired Contador that, for once, was dressed according to the occasion.

 

Can´t hardly wait!

 

Se acabó. Hemos estado unos días en Madrid llevando a cabo nuestro trabajo, como bien sabéis. Con nuestros desplazamientos pretendemos fomentar negocio mediante la calidad del servicio a domicilio. Sin embargo, una vez que regresas a casa, te das cuenta de que lo mejor de todo es que has satisfecho a muchos que necesitaban de SPORT LAB pero que, por unas cosas u otras, el desplazamiento a Granada les era imposible.

 

Volvemos con la sensación de las cosas bien hechas, lo que compensa todos los esfuerzos realizados para unos traslados y cambios en la rutina que, si bien desde el punto de vista humano son renovadores, desde el punto de vista del negocio son menos rentables que recibiros en el laboratorio. Sin embargo, vamos poniendo nuestra bandera en otras plazas que nos requieren. Siempre acudiremos, no lo dudéis.

 

Pablo, su mujer, sus dos hijas, una persona de ayuda, mil cacharros y mil kilómetros ahora se antojan casi divertido, pero no el día que has de cargar el coche y arrancar.

 

Está claro que sin Bike Zona, Búho Bike y, muy especialmente, sin el Hotel Miguel Ángel y su plantilla, no sólo no hubiéramos podido considerarlo un éxito, sino que ni siquiera hubiera sido posible. Sin embargo, queremos hacer hincapié en vosotros. Madrugones, esfuerzos económicos, personales y familiares, secuencias pedaleo-barrita-pedaleo, duchas y cansadísimos viajes de regreso a casa son la justificación de todo lo demás para nosotros.

 

Nuestro espíritu inquieto y vuestra demanda nos preparan para otra pronta salida. Hoy es un boceto que Pablo no me autoriza a desvelar, pero que, ahora que no nos lee nadie, está tomando forma para antes de Navidad. Ojalá encaje todo.

 

 

 

It is all over. As you know, we have been carrying out our work in Madrid for a few days. In our travels we try to make business via the home delivered service quality. Nevertheless, once you arrive home, you realize that, the best of it all is that you satisfied those who needed SPORT LAB but that, for one reason or another, the trip to Granada was an impossible mission.

 

We come back home with the well done things sensation, what compensates all the efforts for movements and routine changes that are renewal from the human point of view, but from the business perspective are not as profitable as attending you at our laboratories. In spite of this, we are flagging new places in where we are required. We will always go there, do not hesitate it.

 

Pablo, his wife, their two daughters, a support person, one thousand thing and one thousand kilometers sound fun now, but not the day you are to load the car and start up.

 

It is clear that without Bike Zona, Búho Bike and very specially without the Miguel Ángel Hotel and its crew, we could not have been able to consider all of this as a success, but it not even could have been possible. Nevertheless, we want to emphasize you. Early wake up, economic, personal and family efforts, pedal-energy bar-pedal sequences, showers and back home tiring trips justify it all for us.

 

Our enterprising spirit and your demand prepare us for a new outing. It is a mere draft today that Pablo won´t allow me to unveil, but, now that nobody reads this, is being shaped to happen before Xstmas. I wish everything could fit.
