No voy a plantear una comparación directa de ambas pruebas, algo imposible, por otro lado. Sin embargo, sí que voy a poner frente a frente algunos vídeos promocionales de las dos pruebas. Quizá así alguien se dé cuenta del anuncio para y por macarras de la Vuelta 2011. Toda una pena.

 

I am not bringing up a direct comparison between both races, something impossible, by the way. Nevertheless, I will put face to face some promo vids of the two races. Someone might notice the ad by and for big-heads of the 2011 Vuelta. Pity.

 

El pasado siete de agosto Pablo Fernández, alma máter de SPORT LAB demostró el movimiento andando al asistir junto a nuestro amigo Paco Calvo al cruce del Guadalquivir a nado en Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Paco Calvo es un alma inquieta que contra viento y marea (nunca mejor dicho) es capaz de generar un evento deportivo desde cero.  En este caso, hablamos de 6 kilómetros a los que Pablo se enfrentó con la experiencia de los manguitos de niño y algún largo que hizo en una piscina Toi en el siglo XX.
 
No sabía muy bien la respuesta de su organismo a ese esfuerzo, pero allí se presentó convenientemente equipado, eso sí. Javier Turbet de calle4.es, uno de nuestros proveedores, se apiadó de Pablo y le recomendó un traje desarrollado con la ayuda de la tecnología usada en la industria aeroespacial. El Sailfish G-Range reduce a niveles casi inexistentes la fricción con el agua gracias al neopreno Space Cell Nano y el Super Balance Side Panel ayuda a equilibrar el cuerpo dentro durante el nado.
 
Su experiencia directa nos habla de facilidad al ponérselo, comodidad, sobre todo en hombros, cero molestias en el agua, sin rozaduras. Finalmente se defendió admirablemente y consiguió completar la distancia con el grupo. On last August the seventh, Pablo Fernández, SPORT LAB alma mater, demonstrated the movement by moving when taking part with our friend Paco in the Guadalquivir river crossing at Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Paco Calvo is an eager soul that against wind and tide (no pun) is capable of creating a sport even from scratch. In this case, it is a 3.75 miles swimm that Pablo faced with his prior experience with floaties when a kid and some laps in a Toi pool back in the 20th century.
 
He didn´t know his body answer to this effort, but he appeared ther properly equppied. Javier Turbet at calle4.es, one of our providers, took pity on Pablo and recommended him to use a swimming suit developed with the help of aerospatial industry. The Sailfish G-Range reduces to an almost unexisting friction level with water thanks to the Space Cell Nano neoprene and the Super Balance Side Panel helps to balance the body inside the water.
 
His direct experience could not be better. It talks about putting on easiness, comfortability, especially in shoulders, zero complains in the water and lack of soreness. Finally he fighted admirably well and arrived with the pack. He had such an impression from the G-Range suit that Paco has already recruited him for a 6.8 miles swimming event in Cádiz waters. Será porque los tengo cerca, será por su encomiable actitud o será porque veo las caritas de los chiquillos en el velódromo, pero me parece que la labor de la Unión Ciclista de San Sebastián de Los Reyes es impagable. Sé que hay muchas instituciones de este tipo y a todas ellas agradezco su entrega y labor por el deporte y los niños.

 

It might be because they are in my proximity, because of their praiseworthy attitude or because I can see kid´s faces at the velodrome, but I think that the San Sebastián de Los Reyes Cyclist Union is unpayable. I know that there are a lot institutions like that one and I deeply thank all of them their dedication to sport and kids.

The most noticeable difference between what theses promotional videos from ELITE show and our task at SPORT LAB is that the floor at SPOR LAB shines but not that much.

 

El bravísimo Leipheimer gana el Tour de Utah. Me alegra que lleguen recompensas a ciclistas valientes como él que dan ejemplo desde el coraje y la experiencia.

Esta carrera es durísima. A ese atractivo, se une el que la carrera visita instalaciones olímpicas de invierno, montañas, circuitos de automóviles, etc.

He estado en Utah una o ninguna vez, ahora no recuerdo, pero me parece que el paisaje debe ser espectacular. Nombres como Moab, sus parques y su naturaleza son grandes atractivos del Estdo Mormón.

The brave Leipheimer wins The Tour of Utah. It makes me glad that rewards go to dare cyclist like him that are an example from courage and experience.

 

This is a tough race. To this atraction, you can add that the race visits winter olimpic games facilities, mountains, race tracks, etc.

 

I have beeen in Utah once or never before, I cannot rememeber now, but I guess that landscapes are spectacular. Names like Moab, its parks and nature are great attractives the Mormon´s State.

El atleta SPORT LAB Lorenzo Trincheri ha ganado por segunda vez la Subida al Veleta 2011. Se trata de una de las pruebas más duras del mundo al ascender en sus 50 kilómetros hasta los 3.390 metros de altitud del Pico del Veleta. Esto significa un desnivel acumulado de 2.750 metros. Nuestro atleta italiano es un magnífico embajador de SPORT LAB. Gracias, Lorenzo.

 

The SPORT LAB athlete Lorenzo trincheri won for the second time the 2011 Veleta Ascent. This is one of the hardest races in the world as they run 50 kilometers and climb up to the 11.122 feet of the Veleta Peak. It means an accumulated heigth of 9.022 feet. Our Italian athlete is a magnificient SPORT LAB ambassador. Thanks, Lorenzo. 

El HTC no es sólo un equipo ciclista. Se trata de una magnífica inciativa del emprendedor Bob Stapleton quien puso amor, pasión y dinero para esta realidad. Sin embargo, el HTC-Highroad desaparece al final de la temporada. Atrás queda un planteamiento que ha hecho en poco tiempo Historia por sus  impresionantes resultados para el deporte, el público y para la escuadra.

Vendrán otros equipos, pero no cubrirán su ausencia.

 

The HTC is not only a cycling team. It is about a magnificent initiative from the entrepreneurial Bob Stapleton who put love, passion and money for this reality. Nevertheless, the HTC-Highroad will disappear at the end of the season. A planning that made History for their stunning results for the sport, audience and squad is long gone.

Others teams will come, but won´t fill the hole.

 

 

Me voy una semana de vacaciones y todo el mundo se vuelve loco. El BMC ha contratado a Hushovd y Gilbert. Sumado a Evans (2 años más), Hincapie, Van Garderen y demás será la escuadra más fuerte del panorama ciclista. Todo esto es bueno para nuestro deporte. ¡Ánimo BMC!

 

I have been out for holidays for one week and everybody seems to go nuts. The BMC hired Hushovd and Gilbert. Added to Evans (two more years), Hincapie, Van Garderen and so on, it will be the strongest team in the cycling panorama. All of this is quite good for our sport. Cheers, BMC!
