El ciclista SPORT LAB Juan José Lobato ha sido entrevistado por Ciclismo a Fondo. Algo tendrá el agua cuando la bendicen.

 

The SPORT LAB cyclist Juan José Lobato interviewed by Ciclismo a Fondo. Guess why.

 

La  Lidingöloppet se lleva a cabo en Lidingö, como no. Se trata de una competición para aficionados en la que impera el buen ambiente y el reto personal más que la competitividad pura y dura. Se celebra desde hace 46 años en esa bella ciudad que ocupa una isla del Archipiélago de Estocolmo, Suecia. Hablamos, no obstante, de un recorrido de hasta treinta kilómetros a pie en un paraje idílico. No penséis que se trata de un paseo en autobús descubierto.

 

Ahora viene lo bueno. ¿Por qué hablamos de esta carrera en un paraje lejos de España y sin aparente conexión? Pues porque Pablo, su mujer e hijas se han ido con la intención de que la deportiva pareja corra la carrera de 30 kilómetros. Por una propuesta de un cliente, y sin embargo amigo, que vive en Suecia, se han animado a tomar parte en este evento. Pablo ha prometido mandarme información en tiempo real de lo que suceda.

 

Mientras, me he quedado sólo en SPORT LAB. Nuestra central permanecerá cerrada hasta el día 24 de octubre, aunque Pablo seguirá al tanto de todo gracias a las nuevas tecnologías. Aquí me tenéis para lo que queráis. No podré daros un plan de entrenamiento, pero por lo menos charlaremos un rato.

The Lidingöloppet happens in Lidingö, where else? It is a non-professional running race in which a good environment and personal challenge are the rules and over pure competiveness. It has been held for the last 46 years in this beautiful island city belonging to the Stockholm Archipielago, Sweden. Nevertheless, we are talking about an up to 19 miles course in an idyllic landscape. Don´t you think that it is a convertible bus tour.

 

Here comes the good. Why do we talk about this race so far from Spain and with no appearing connection? Well, Pablo, his wife and their two little girls will travel there with the sporty couple´s aim of running the 19 miles race. Due to a customer, and in spite of this a friend, suggestion who lives in Sweden, they have encouraged joining this event. Pablo promised that he would send real time info.

 

In the meanwhile, here I am alone at SPORT LAB. Our headquarters will be closed until the next October the 24th, though Pablo will be up to date of everything thanks to the new technologies. Here I am for whatever you want. I won´t be able to provide training plans, but we can chat for a while.

Los Mundiales de ciclismo 2011 se están celebrando en estos días en Copenhague. Ya se han llevado a cabo varias pruebas con los siguientes resultados:

 

Día 190911:

– Contrarreloj para chicas junior con victoria de Jessica Allen, australiana de las que ya anuncian lo que los del otro extremo del mundo están dispuestos a hacer.

 

– Contrarreloj para chicos U23 con victoria de Luke Durbridge. Australiano también. Luís Más, séptimo.

 

Día 200911:

– Contrarreloj élite femenina con victoria de Judith Arndt.

 

– Contrarreloj masculina junior con victoria de Mads Wurtz.

 

Día 210911:

– Contrarreloj masculina élite que ha ganado Tony Martin dejando atrás a Wiggins y aun desdibujado Cancellara. Castroviejo ha hecho décimo.

Si me tocara la Primitiva iba a enganchar Eurobike, Interbike y Mundiales de una tacada. Me iba a hib¡nchar de ver bicis.

 

 

2011 Worlds are being held in our days in Copenhagen. Some races have finished like that:

 

– Day 091911:

– Junior girls TT with Jessica Allen´s victory, an Aussie that warns about what the ones from the other side of the world are able to do.

 

– U23 juniuor boys TT with Luke Durbridge´s triumph. Aussie too. Luís Más, seventh.

 

Day 092011:

 

– Elite girls TT with Judith Arndt´s victory.

 

– Junior boys TT with Mads Wurtz up there.

 

Day 092111:

– Elite Men TT with Tony Martin as a solid leader before Wiggins and a sketchy Cancellara. Castroviejo, tenth.

 

If I would win the lottery, I would hook Eurobike, Interbike and Worlds in a single shot. I would stuff with bikes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Los Campeonatos del Mundo de Ciclismo 2014 se celebrarán en Ponferrada, León y en el 2015 en Richmond, Virginia, USA. Enhorabuena a ambos, especialmente a nuestros compratiotas.

 

World Champs will be held in Ponferrada, León, Spain in 2014 and in Richmond, Virginia, USA in 2015. Congratulations to the both of them, specially to our fellows.

El ciclocrós vive un momento dulce. Carreras, aficionados, corredores que lo usan para entrenar / divertise, materiales, y tecnología.

 

La UCI autorizó el uso de los discos en el ciclocross. Sí, la UCI.

 

¿Qué tiene que ver todo esto?

 

Los fabricantes de ruedas han decidido aprovechar la tecnología derivada de las adaptaciones al ciclocross siglo XXI y lo que ello aporta para presentar en el 2012 una nueva serie de ruedas de carretera con diferentes características a las conocidas. HED, ZIPP, Shimano y otros ya han anunciado para dentro de unas pocas semanas ruedas de carbono más anchas para asentar mejor la cubierta, sin cámara y para disco.

 

Ya hubo hace unos quince años quien diseñó unos actuadores para manetas de freno de carretera para discos hidráulicos. Se adelantó a su tiempo.

 

Todas estas ventajas suponen un incremento en el peso despreciable incluso para los que no comen desde el pasado 4 de febrero.

 

Me gustan los tiempos en los que vivo, pero aún más los que no viviré en el futuro.

 

Ciclocross is in a sweet spot. Races, followers, racers who do it for training and fun purposes, materials and technology.

 

UCI allowed discs in CX bikes. Yes, UCI.

 

What does it all have to do with?

 

Wheel makers decided to make the most of technology coming from adaptations to XXI century ciclocross its contribution to unveil in 2012 a new generation of road wheels featuring some characteristics different from the already known ones. HED, ZIPP, Shimano and others have announced for the next weeks wider carbon wheels for better tire casing, tubeless and disc ready.

 

Fifteen years ago somebody designed actuators to be operated with regular road brake levers on hydraulic discs. Ahead of his time, I am afraid.

 

This bunch of advantages mean a negligible weight increase even for the ones that don´t eat since last February the fourth.

 

I like the times I am living, but much more the ones I won´t in the future.

 

Me sería imposible hablar de la décima parte de lo que el Eurobike e Interbike traen de nuevo. Pero me llama la atención como, en este mundo de tecnología tan avanzada, es el ingenio lo que marca la evolución.

 

A los señores de los frenos Formula se les ha ocurrido crear una latiguillo de freno que puede conectarse y desconectarse sin pérdida de líquido. Algo parecido a las mangueras de los compresores de aire. Desmontajes, limpiezas, transporte, etc. pueden ser más fácil desde ahora.  Me encanta.

 

It would be impossible to talk about the tenth part of what Eurobike and Interbike bring as new. But it catches my attention how, in this advanced technologies world, is ingenious what sets evolution.

 

Guys at Formula brakes have created a quick release brake hose without fluid loss. Something like air compressors´. Dismount, cleaning, transportation, etc. might be easier from now on. I love it.

Este fin de semana he estado en el Festibike. He visto bicis, componentes, tecnologías, novedades… Visto lo visto, ahora tengo más claro que nunca que el futuro de nuestro deporte está asegurado.

 

Last weekend I went to the Festibike. I saw bikes, componentry, technologies, novelties… For what I was able to see, it is clear that cycling future is fully ensured.

 

SRAM, es decir, SRAM, Truvativ, Avid y Rock Shox, ha tenido la brillante idea de entregar 100 piezas de bicicleta de alta tecnología a una serie de artistas para que creen figuras. Éstas serán subastadas a beneficio de World Bicycle Relief, una organización que ayuda a mejorar las condiciones de vida de los que más lo necesitan a través de la bici.

 

La iniciativa es genial, pero el resultado es aún más. Podéis verlo en el SRAM pART PROJECT.

 

 

SRAM, that is, SRAM, Truvativ, Avid and Rock Shox had the brilliant idea of providing 100 high tech bike parts to some artists to build figures. They will be auctioned and the benefits will go to the World Bicycle Relief, an organization that helps to improve living conditions of the ones that need it most through the bike.
